What a fantastic collection!

Two Joe Jacksons and neither one is "Jumpin' Jive". I don't get it.

Lemonheads "Mrs. Robinson". Played loud, Fantastic. Haven't listened to "It's a Shame About Ray " CD in ages...... Time to annoy the neighbours.

Rich, 3 words "Automotive CD/MP3 player" (OK, 2 words and an acronym).
Best thing shice sliced bread IMHO!

I agree on the Joe Jackson "Jumpin' Jive" comment. Great collection, but no Steely Dan?

Belated responses:

@Kitty: thanks I don't buy much new music any more. There's the occasional new thing that I like enough to buy, but I mainly buy up the "Greatest Hits", "Best Ofs". and "Various Artists" discs in order to get the greatest variety.

@Stan: I could say the same thing. I just don't get "Jumpin' Jive". I know that there are a lot of people who really love it, but I really think Joe was at his best on Look Sharp, Night & Day, and Big World. Nonetheless, the Greatest Hits disc in the above playlist does indeed include some cuts from Jumpin' Jive. BTW: My nine year old daughter really likes Joe Jackson, especially "It's Different for Girls".

@ajp: I was in a cover band about ten years ago now, and we did Mrs. Robinson in the Lemonheads style. Wow, that was fun!! BTW: "It's A Shame About Ray" has an interesting new meaning after yesterday's news, huh?

@Danny: I'm waiting for an automotive CD/MP3 recorder! What better time to get all those CDs saved as MP3 (for archival purposes) than when I'm actually playing them in the car. Although truthfull, the bigger reason I will eventually get into MP3 is when I find an easy way to get all my old LPs recorded as MP3s.

@Jon: An oversight on this trip, for sure. I definitely have Steely Dan in the overall collection. More than 600 CDs at last count. Makes it hard to choose what to bring with you on a long trip. (And yes, Danny, I know that with MP3s I wouldn't have to choose... I could bring them all!)

Here's what I do: We have household file server which was actualy built as a "Rip and Burn" box (it stores other stuff as well, but when I built is I spent a little more on a higher speed processor and installed both a CD and a CD/DVD RW drive). We store all the MP3's there (new CD's get ripped almost immediately and we're working our way through the backlog) and then burn CD's for the car as needed. That way you can create a CD for a specific mood or even a certain trip.
