I rarely cast votes on IMDB, but I wasted two and a half hours on Troy last night. I gave it a 1. The story line is horribly butchered, departing in more ways from Homer's Iliad than I could count. Complex characters with both heroic and anti-heroic qualities were reduced to one-dimensional caricatures, and they couldn't even pronounce "Menelaus" correctly. It's Men-uh-lay-us, not Men-uh-louse. And in the Iliad, he isn't killed by Hector or any other Trojan.

I don't expect that you'd be interested, but I believe the reason it did so well at the box office can be summed up in one phrase: Brad Pitt's naked butt.

I use this as an example with my kids on how to make a bad story that no one likes. It didn't bother me that they diverted from the original story line, some directors are going to do that just because they can.
What made it hideous was that there wasn't a single character that you could identify with. In the end, you're hoping they all die and take the director with them.
Can you give it lower than a 1?

@Esther -- I've heard that explanation. From my wife
@Jon -- I would have gone negative if they would have let me.
