I'm going to Pleasanton, California next week. It's about equidistant from San Francisco and San Jose. I have a high school friend who has been in San Jose for a long, long time. Every now and then we try to connect when he's in the East or I'm out West. This time it looks like it might even work out, so he asked me what my schedule for next week looks like.

I said it looked like a rectangular grid, with hours written on the left edge and days written across the top, with some of the boxes filled in and some empty.

Couldn't help myself.

In a meeting this morning, we agreed we need to make a list of the issues, and someone asked 'so how do we do that?', so of course I replied,
'well, you take a piece of paper and a pen...'
