Heard for the first time in our house this week...
"Dad, can I have the car Friday night?"
Actually, there are two milestones this week: she got her driver's license on Tuesday, and tonight was opening night for Aida, which is her first show as choreographer.
Dad is very proud.
And dad is also feeling very old.

I'd like to offer you some encouragement, but the statements all go downhill from here.

Congratulations to your daughter on choreographing the show -that's not an easy gig. I hope it went well.
I should imagine that it's pretty hard when your daughter changes from "little girl" to "young woman" -I don't know whether to congratulate you or offer condolences . Luckily mine is only eight, so I've got a few years left.

I so feel your pain. My oldest is turning 16 on Thanksgiving Day, so I will be in your shoes sooner than I would want. I am not sure if it's better or worse that mine is a boy. Luckily, alcohol is still very legal in my neck of the woods and i have a wine rack full of it to medicate my nerves.

Been there, and about to do it again.
Daughter number two takes the drivers test next week. I suspect I'll be hearing the same thing in about a week ...
