On the very day it was released, I severely dissed Notes 7.0.2 for Mac because it did not include support for running Java agents. I knew in advance, from discussions under NDA in the beta forum, that this would be the case -- and my disappointment was such that I could not hold back for even a day after the embargo on discussion lifted. And back in January, I took an IBM speaker to task when she erroneously claimed "complete parity" for Notes 7.0.2 on the Mac during a Lotusphere session, despite the fact that this problem still wasn't solved. And based on a follow-up conversation with Kevin Cavanaugh (who saw my grimace when his co-speaker made that unfortunate claim), I even went so far as to write,
"At this point, I need to give up hope that it will ever be solved.".
It wasn't that I didn't believe IBM could or would do it. I knew for sure that Kevin understood the importance and wanted to get it done, but he couldn't promise it for Notes 8.0.1 -- and he gave me no reason to believe that it might happen in the 7.0.x code stream. So, for me this was a matter of realizing that it was clearly a very hard problem for IBM, and that it was a matter of practicality for me. I had no promise that it would ever happen, and I had not indication of when it might happen if it did. I had problems to solve, and the problems could not wait. The only sensible thing to do was to assume that I would not be able to use Java on the Mac.
Today, in the middle of a comment thread in his own blog, Ed Brill confirmed that Java agents will be available in Notes 7.0.3 on the Mac. This is big news, deserving of much more than just an off-hand remark. Ben Poole picked up on it And given that I've been outspoken about it, I figure it deserves to be highlit here.
Thanks, in advance, IBM, to Ed, to Kevin, and to everyone else whose ear I've bent out of shape over this in the past couple of years. I'm sure it was a very hard problem to solve. Thanks for listening, and thanks for getting it done.

Notes 7.0.2 (Mac) will not remember that I have set the default browser to "Other". After a hour or so Notes will tell me that it is "unable to launch program". I have to reset the location pref again.
Is there any way to make Notes remember this setting.
The same thing happens on another Mac here.

I am having the exact same problem as Mark Rafferty... I make the change, but (I am guessing) that the Notes Server is resetting it after a period of time. Notes 7.0.2.

Hmmm... I don't have a Mac available for me to test with right now, but if I can find anything out about this I'll try to let you know if there's a solution.
